Cards for your team and your AI agents, with your rules.

Issue virtual and physical debit cards that spend straight from your Cedar balance. Set limits, merchant locks and approvals, collect every receipt, and watch each purchase land in your books, categorized and ready for tax.

A card studio makes three cards. In the dashboard, a form makes Maya Chen a physical card for travel, up to $3,000 a month, and then a virtual card that only works at Amazon, up to $5,000 a month. Then, through the API, a few lines of code make a card for Fern & Field's marketing agent, marked as an AI agent: ads on Meta, Google and TikTok only, up to $8,000 a month, receipt required, and only a person can change these rules. Each card drops into the wallet below.

How it works.

Issue a card, tell it what it's for, and every purchase keeps your books for you.

  1. Issued

    Issue a card

Virtual cards in seconds and physical cards in the mail, for a person, a vendor or an agent.

  2. Ruled

    Set its rules

Limits, merchants, categories and who approves what, for each card or team, in the dashboard or through the API.

  3. Spent

    Spend from your balance

Cards are debit cards on your Cedar balance. No credit line to apply for and no bill at the end of the month.

  4. Booked

    See it in your books

Every purchase lands in your ledger with its receipt, category and sales tax.

Controls that work before the money moves.

Rules are checked at the card, so a purchase that breaks one is declined, not found at month end.

Limits and merchant locks

Give each card a monthly limit, a cap on each purchase, and the merchants or categories it works at. Anything else is declined at the card.

Approvals where you want them

Purchases over a limit you choose wait for the person you name. They approve in a tap, and the purchase goes through.

Freeze a card in a moment

Lost a card, or see a charge you don't recognize? Freeze it in one tap and every purchase is declined until you turn it back on. An agent's card freezes the same way, from the dashboard or the API.

A card for every kind of spend

Physical cards for the team, virtual cards for vendors and subscriptions, one-time cards for a single purchase and agent cards for your AI agents.

In the dashboard

The Marketing agent can buy ads on Meta, Google and TikTok, up to $8,000 a month, with a receipt for every charge.

const card = await cedar.cards.create({
  holder: "marketing_agent",
  type: "virtual",
  merchants: ["meta", "google", "tiktok"],
  limit: { amount: "8000.00", per: "month" },
  receipt: "required",
});

Give your agents a card, not your card.

An agent asks for a card through the API and gets one for its task, with the limit and merchants you set. It can't raise its own limit, and every purchase comes back with its receipt.

Only people raise limits
An agent can ask for a card, never for more money. Limits change in the dashboard, by someone you allow.
A card for each task
One-time cards close after the purchase, so a number that leaks can't be used again.
Every purchase logged
Which agent bought what, on which card, is in the audit log with its receipt.

It's all part of the bigger build.

Start with Cards, then add the blocks around it as you grow. Every block reads from and writes to one system of record, so money in, money out and your books always agree.

Questions about Cards and Spend management.

Anything else? Book a call with us.

Are these credit cards?

No. They're debit cards that spend from your Cedar balance, so there's no credit check, no personal guarantee and no monthly bill to pay.

Can we get physical cards?

Yes. Physical cards for the people who need one, and virtual cards, ready in seconds, for everything bought online.

How do agent cards work?

An agent asks for a card through the API and gets one inside the limits and merchants you set. It can't raise its own limit. One-time cards close after the purchase, and every purchase is logged with the agent that made it.

What happens when a purchase breaks a rule?

It's declined at the card, before any money moves, and the cardholder sees why. Purchases over an approval limit wait for the person you chose.

How are receipts collected?

Cardholders text a photo, forward the email or add it in the app, and agents attach theirs through the API. If a receipt is missing for too long, the card pauses until it's added.

Do we need Banking?

Yes. Cards spend from your Cedar balance, so they come with a Banking account. Money from Payments settles into the same balance.

How do purchases reach our books?

Each purchase is categorized in Accounting with its receipt and sales tax, on the same ledger as your balance, so there's nothing to import or reconcile at month end.
