Tax IDs checked before the first payout
Every US payee fills in a W-9 before they're first paid, and we match their name and tax ID with the IRS. A mismatch gets fixed in the fall, not after a notice in the spring.
W-9s and W-8BENs collected, tax IDs and bank accounts checked, and every 1099, 1042-S and 1099-K built from what you actually paid, then filed and delivered. For nonprofits, your Form 990 too.
Fern & Field Coffee Roasters reviews its five payees for 2026. Each one's W-9 or W-8BEN, tax ID and bank account were checked before they were paid. Sam Okafor, a brand designer, was paid $7,340.00 and gets a 1099-NEC. Bluebird Packaging, a corporation, was paid $29,760.00 and needs no form. Lena Park was paid $3,200.00 by card and needs no form. Mateo Ruiz was paid $1,450.00, under $2,000, and needs no form. Kenji Aoki in Japan was paid $2,400.00 for a photo license, at a 0% treaty rate, and gets a 1042-S. Sam's 1099-NEC fills in from what was paid, then is filed with the IRS and sent to Sam by email.
Checked when someone is first paid, so nothing is missing when forms are due.
Every payee fills in their form online before their first payout, and it stays on file.
We match each name and tax ID with the IRS, and check every bank account is open and in the right name before money moves.
Your year's payouts add up by payee, and we work out who needs a 1099, a 1042-S or no form at all.
We file with the IRS and your states, send each payee their copy by email or mail, and correct any form that changes.
Who you paid, where the money went, and what the IRS needs to hear about it.
Every US payee fills in a W-9 before they're first paid, and we match their name and tax ID with the IRS. A mismatch gets fixed in the fall, not after a notice in the spring.
Before you pay an account or pull a payment from one, we check that it's open and in the right name. A payee who suddenly changes banks is held until they confirm, and ACH payments stop bouncing. The checks come from KYC and KYB.
Payees outside the US fill in a W-8BEN instead of a W-9. We apply their treaty rate and file a 1042-S when the income comes from the US.
If you pay out to sellers on your platform, we track each one against the 1099-K threshold of $20,000 and more than 200 sales, then file and deliver theirs.

For nonprofits, the gifts you took, the money you spent and who gave the most are already in Cedar. We prepare the return from them, your officer signs, and we file it. See which 990 you file and when.
Start with Compliance, then add the blocks around it as you grow. Every block reads from and writes to one system of record, so what you paid and what you report always agree.
A W-9 before the first payout, and every payout counted toward the 1099.
Every ACH payment checks its bank account first, and every gift counts toward your 990.
Expenses tagged by purpose, so the 990's expense statement adds itself up.
Your 990's due date and charity registrations, on one calendar.

1099-NEC, 1099-MISC and 1099-K, the 1042-S for payees outside the US, and the Form 990 for nonprofits. We collect the W-9s and W-8BENs that go with them.
US contractors and other non-employees you paid $2,000 or more during the year by ACH, wire or check. The threshold was $600 through 2025 and rises with inflation from 2027. Most payments to corporations don't need one.
Card payments are reported by the card processor on a 1099-K, so they don't go on your 1099-NEC. We leave them off for you.
A W-8BEN, or a W-8BEN-E for a company, instead of a W-9. Work done outside the US usually needs no US form. For US income such as royalties, we apply any treaty rate and file a 1042-S.
We ask the payee to fix it before their next payout, so it's settled long before forms are due. If the IRS sends a notice anyway, we walk you through what it asks for.
Yes. If a payment changes, we file the corrected form with the IRS and your states and send the payee a new copy.
It depends on your gross receipts and assets. Company management keeps the thresholds and your due date; we build whichever one you file from your Cedar records.
It comes from KYC and KYB. When a payee, customer or donor adds a bank account, it's confirmed open and in the right name before the first payment, in or out, and checked again if it changes.
Book a call and we'll go through last year's payees with you, and what you'll owe this January.
